What a great experience. But that last game …..

That last game round 6 I was two moves away from checkmate then spent a few minutes telling myself  ‘yes, it’s a checkmate’, then suddenly I looked up and I was out of time. Really after battling it out over a 3 hr game and taking it to a winning position then I ran out of time. I know well the lessons in time control and can’t believe I let it happen. The compensation is that I had a winning game, with a player rated 1975 which would have left me with 5 wins of 6 games. This result was not what I was expecting in such a high level tournament.

I’m really satisfied. Congratulations to my friend Thalia for winning first place! Great job. Thalia has been studying with Susan and the SPICE Chess coaches for the past year and loves chess!

Good luck to everyone! I hope to play in the SPF Girls Invitational again one day.

My Black and White CHESS GIRL look!

Tonight was a fun evening getting to know the players before tomorrows tournament begins. The energy was fun and all the girls enjoying time together.

I  have been very fortunate to be invited by SPICE to play in this tournament. Thank you GM Susan Polgar for this opportunity. It is my first All Girls Chess tournament and I look forward to sharing this experience with you.

The Annual SPF Girls’ Invitational is in its 12th year, and is the most prestigious All-Girls event in the United States. It is also the first All-Girls event approved and sanctioned by the USCF in 2003. It is an invitational event held at Webster University (St. Louis, Missouri).

Each US state and country in the American Continent (South, Central, and North America) is allowed to nominate one representative. In addition, automatic qualifying spots will be awarded to the reigning winners in each section of the annual Susan Polgar Foundation National Open for Girls and the Susan Polgar Foundation World Open for Girls.

Chess Daily News

I am writing a letter to my sponsor now and will post a summary of my experiences playing chess in Budapest Hungary and how important this has been for me as a chess player and person! Thank you David, with love from me, my brother Jacob and family!

I am very happy to have won 1st Women in the Budapest Open 2014, Sec B.

Playing chess in Budapest has been the best time. Players are committed and very friendly and I am going to really miss playing chess there! I hope that I can go back one day again soon.

KAVALA OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT 2014

I had a wonderful time playing chess in Kavala Greece!

I want to thank my friends John and his family for being so kind to me and my family, and for the fun days out!

Also Aris the chess coach who helped me with some chess lessons before the tournament. He is a very good teacher!

I am really happy that I was presented with the prize for 1st U18 Girls!

Here are my chess friends Maria Manelidou and Theodora Hatzipanteli. Maria did great and won a prize also, as did Theodora. Theodora really impressed me. She is a really good chess player and very determined to win! She was often the last person playing chess. My chess friend To Nhat Minh (featured photo) also came in 4th place in the Open and did a great job!

This board is a gift for my Canadian chess coach Stephen Wright. It has signatures from the Hungarian Chess Team and Polish Chess team and was signed during  the friendly warm up game between the two teams before the Olympiad games 2014.

GM Lajos Portisch and GM Judit Polgar also sighed my board. It was an honor to be able to meet both of these players and all the players seen here. Thank you for taking the time to sign it and to wish me well, I really appreciate this. I also have another one of these boards and would like to give it to my sponsor David from Netherlands!
