March 26 is International PURPLE DAY which is Epilepsy Awareness Month!

I want to support Cassidy, who is now a friend of mine through facebook. So I set up a day to share what PURPLE DAY is all about in my community. Chess was a great way to bring the community together and for people to stop by and see the stand I set up with all the materials on epilepsy education on a table for people to take away for free.

Purpe Day was founded by Cassidy Megan a young teenager with Epilepsy. She has been doing so well fighting her epilepsy and many teens are more aware and educated about epilepsy because of her. We need to know more about epilepsy as many people around have seizures. It is very common, and people with epilepsy can lead very normal lives and need to know that others around them know what to do if they see someone having a seizure. We need to know some basic rules to follow to ensure that the person is safe and will soon recover from the seizure and continue as normal.

On October 11 is DAY OF THE GIRL. An article about chess and supporting DAY OF THE GIRL.

DAY OF THE GIRL is the time for girls to stand up and represent themselves and other girls and support their rights as human beings to live a healthy decent life and receive the opportunites of an education, receive basic health care, and respect that we all deserve.

What an amazing day we all had playing chess for a cause!

Thank you Chapters for letting me play chess, it means so much to me because it is for the charity ‘because i am a girl, Canada Plan.
