ASHLEY CHESS GIRL

Hello my name is Ashley and I play chess. I am 13 yrs old and one of my favourite things is to play chess. I would really like to be able to have chess coaching and attend tournaments, so I fundraise to make this possible. My first fundraiser was playing chess outside the art gallery with my friends. I was so happy when I qualified in July 2012 to represent Canada and attend the World Youth Chess Championship in Maribor, Slovenia Nov 7-19, 2012. It has been amazing the journey trying to raise the funds to get there.

I did raise enough money to attend thanks to huge support from my community and from people around the world.

The result from the WYCC was :
5 draws and 2 wins of 11 games. Much more than I could have expected!
I had the most amazing time, and did so much better than I thought. With a zero FIDE rating when I entered, I now have a FIDE rating of 1503. I really want to study hard now and play more chess!!

NEXT YEAR THE WORLD QUALIFIER IS:
OTTAWA JULY 10-12, followed by the
CANADIAN OPEN JULY 13-20 also in OTTAWA
I would really like to go to these tournaments and now
I am trying to raise the funds to go.

I would also like to see more girls play chess. There are only a few girls playing chess at the tournaments I attend in Vancouver, BC Canada and hope that this will change.
