My visit to the Budapest Chess Federation Office
Thanks Krisian for sharing the rules!
So you set up the board randomly with two complete sets (1 wooden, 1 plastic), filling all the 64 squares. Then all you have to do is to take off pieces, 4, 3 or 2 at once, but they must be identical by the following attributes:
1. same material
2. same color
3. same square color
4. all of them must be either pawns or pieces (king, queen, rook, bishop and knight are equal now, they are all pieces)
5. they must be placed either on even or on odd ranks.
The players take turns, each of them take pieces off the board, using the rules above. If one cannot find identical pieces anymore, then you have the right to take off 2, that differ from each other by all the five attributes.
The player who collects the most pieces, wins.
